Truth Be Told - grouptherapy.
LA-based collective grouptherapy. are back with this latest project Truth Be Told. Their growth as musicians continues to expand and demonstrate their unique approach toward genre-less music. Within 22-minutes, Jadagrace, SWIM, and TJOnline find new ways to complement each other while maintaining their own creative merits on this latest sonic offering.
The vibrant synth chords on “Tangerine” are mesmerizing and the melodies are infectious. “Mistake” feels like the group at its purest and “Ah Choo” highlights each member's charisma. The switch up on “Truth Be Told” was a pleasant surprise and the dense 808s were utopian.
While the tracks where all the members are exchanging their creative realms are filled with eccentric moments, the solo songs are the ones that stand out the most for us. On “Pink Papers,” Jadagrace holds no punches; jumping in and out of different rhyme schemes, making it difficult for listeners to sleep on her delivery and pen. “Risky” with SWIM shifts gears and provides a refreshed Cool Kids-ish sound. The drums and SWIM’s compelling cadence makes perfect matrimony. He displays his confidence as a lyricist and doesn’t become a victim of the vibrant production.
The production by Dee Lilly is the heart and soul of this sonic offering. His influences may be easy to point out but he finds a way to make the production personable and forward-thinking.
grouptherapy.’s latest body of work displays their growth as musicians and their ability to transcend traditional soundscapes.
